National Gaming Day @ your library!

The El Reno library is celebrating National Gaming Day this Saturday, November 14!

Community members are invited to visit the library between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to play board games.  Families and children of all ages are welcome.

The library will provide board games but you are welcome to bring your own games if you wish.

Have tough economic times cut into the movie budget at your household? Let the library keep your family entertained!

The El Reno library offers a variety of children’s movies, award-winning films, family friendly films, and books-to-movies. The library’s DVD collection is growing and we do still have some movies in the VHS format as well.

Movies check out just like books except that library users are limited to three movies at a time.

Brown Bag Book Club September meeting

The Brown Bag Book Club will meet this Friday, September 25 from noon – 1 p.m. at the library.  The club is open to everyone.  Some members bring a sack lunch and drinks are always provided.

This month, the club will discuss The Honk and Holler Opening Soon by Oklahoma author Billie Letts.  Honk and Holler was the 2004 “Oklahoma Reads Oklahoma” winner.

Copies of the book are still available at the library.  Call 262-2409 to reserve your copy today!

Holiday Closing

The library will be closed the following dates in observance of Labor Day:

Saturday, September 5
Sunday, September 6
Monday, September 7

The library will re-open at 9 am, Tuesday, September 8.

Books will not accrue fines while the library is closed.  If you wish to return materials while the library is closed, please use the drop box on the front porch.

ESL classes @ your library

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes begin September 8 at the El Reno Carnegie Library. The class meets from 6-8 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and is FREE.

The adult ESL programs work with adults (16 years and older), whose first language is not English and who are no longer attending public schools, to help those not fully fluent and literate in English to communicate effectively in English. This means developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. ESL programs are designed to help our adult students acquire the skills they need to meet their personal, vocational, academic, community, and employment goals.

Evening Classes
EL RENO: Carnegie Library (No babysitting) T/Th 6:00-8:00 p.m.
MUSTANG: First Baptist Church (No babysitting) T/TH 5:30-8:00 p.m.
